Auburn Police investigating collision in downtown Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. - On June 26, 2025, at approximately 7:03 a.m., the Auburn Police Department received a report of a collision involving a train and a vehicle. The collision occurred at the railroad crossing located on North Gay Street in downtown Auburn. Police, fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene and located a single victim suffering from critical injuries. Immediate lifesaving measures were taken; however, the subject was pronounced deceased on scene.

At this time, the railroad crossings at Donahue Drive, College Street and Ross Street are open. The Gay Street railroad crossing remains closed while the Auburn Police Traffic Homicide Unit investigates the scene.
